This new DTCCU Competition course will primarily work on handling and training challenges needed to compete successfully in AKC Agility Excellent/Masters classes.
Teams will also begin foundations for the international-style handling needed to participate in AKC Premiere and ISC, and UKI.
Examples of skills that may be covered include distance sends, challenging weave pole entries, fine tuning crosses, tight turns, layering, serpentines, threadles and handling sends to the back side of jumps. We will also continue to build independent performance of all obstacles while maintaining criteria.
Emphasis will be to build skills on shorter training sequences rather than running full courses.
Prerequisite:
1. Teams must be successful graduates of DTCCU Advanced 2 and have Advanced 2 Instructor’s recommendation.
2. Or must have a minimum of an AKC Novice Jumpers or Standard Title or equivalent which may be determined by Competition Instructor’s video review.
3. Dogs should have well-defined stopped or running contact criteria at full-height, competition level. Dogs should be making solid progress toward weaving 12 weave poles.
4. Handlers must demonstrate solid, off leash control and the ability to maintain focus and connection while navigating course challenges and while entering/exiting the ring.
