Duane has trained dogs for over 45 years. He is one of the founding members of the Dog Training Club of Champaign-Urbana; has instructed many club obedience classes, from Home Companion through Utility; and has been a past Director of Training and President for the club. He has made an ongoing effort to stay informed concerning various training techniques and AKC rule changes. He has been fortunate to be able to work with some of the country’s leading trainers in dog sport both in obedience and field work. He has titled dogs in obedience and agility, trials, tracking tests, and retriever hunt tests, including HRC Hunt Tests (HR, HRCH), and AKC Tracking Tests (TD), Agility Trials (NA, NAJ), Obedience Trials (CD, CDX, UD, UDX), and Hunt Tests (JH, SH, MH). He has served as an AKC Hunt Test and Obedience Trial secretary and is an AKC approved Field Trial judge He currently has three Golden Retrievers and five Labrador Retrievers at home, all still currently working. Duane is a retired Elementary School Principal.
