This class is for dogs that have been started in tracking and are capable of doing a track that is at least 100 yards long and includes a corner. At the end of the class it is hoped dog-handler teams will be able to complete tracks with multiple corners and a variety of scenting challenges (change of cover, change of surface, aging, etc.) Instruction on TD and TDU type of tracks will be provided. An opportunity to certify will be provided at the end of the class if dog-handler teams are ready.

Handlers must prepared to track, preferably with a classmate, 2-3 times per week. This may mean tracking in the dark.  Class participants are expected to volunteer to help with DTCCU tracking tests if they are not entered. It’s a wonderful way to learn more about the sport.

Instruction will be at various sites throughout Champaign County (and perhaps nearby counties). The class will be six weeks long during the Winter session.
