International Agility Training Group

3 Rings

6:00-7:30 p.m. Tuesday

Instructors: Barbara Scanlan and Wendy Woods

Class limited to 6 participants

This session’s course will primarily work on the international-style handling and training challenges commonly required for competition in AKC ISC and Premier, UKI and other international venues.

We will run course segments that represent common design features of International-style courses such as layering, bypassing obstacles, complex backside sends, challenging weave pole entries, complex cross patterns, send away starts, tight turns and threadles. We will also continue to build independent performance of all obstacles while maintaining criteria.

Each session of the workgroup, we focus on identifying and building a focus skill or two.

This session, we will be building on the advanced skills we have built in previous sessions. We will work on the component skills of and will culminate in running a challenging course adapted from German handler and judge, Daniel Walz.

Certain nights this session might alternatively feature AKC Masters/Excellent sequences and CPE games.

Prerequisite: Teams should have well-defined stopped or running contact criteria at full-height, competition level. Dogs should have a solid ability to weave 12 weave poles with around-the-clock entries and exits.

Teams should have a solid background in foundation for international skills such as backside send and threadle variations, bypass and layering skills, weave poles with very difficult entries/exits, landing side tunnel entries, etc.

Dogs should also be able to confidently drive toward targets and handlers should be fluent in working with remote reinforcement. Teams should be able to send a dog to an obstacle from at least 10 feet, including to a backside of a jump and to weaves.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
